Today, I feel a little like Jesus. Not in the divine way, or the male way, or the dining with sinners way (although I guess I probably do dine with sinners sometimes), but because today I was denied for the third time by the American Red Cross. They don't want my blood because I don't have enough iron. The first time I tried to give, two months ago, I was actually in the anemic range, which was weird and a little scary. Now, I'm back up into normal range, but still not good enough to give blood and walk away unscathed -- or so they claim.
The denial hurt. Giving
blood is my own little form of helping
others. The good news today was that this denial gave me some time to wander around Burlington, and I was inspired to take some pictures. So I did.

I must say-you have a very nice blog.
Tell me what you think about mine.
Greetings from Italy, good luck to you all.
Bye, Marlow
Oh, yeah, I've never been able to give blood, for various reasons.
Sometimes my iron is too low.
Once when everything else was fine, I mysteriously blacked out and collapsed on the way to the chair where they take the blood. (Must be a psychological thing. Those questions about the blood diseases really creep me out.)
Another time, I was turned away for warning the interviewer about the above.
Another time, my pulse was too high, because I was so worried about blacking out.
Another time I blacked out during the interview. I understood the problem better, so I tried to tell them to go ahead and take blood anyway, but they refused. And they waste a bunch of their time taking my blood pressure over and over and pestering me about how my legs were positioned.
So I gave up. :(
I know how you feel.
I used to give blood too, but a law from 2000 forgave me to still donate blood. In Portugal, persons who receid transfusions of blood or other transfusions are not alowed to give blood.
It's hard to find we can not still doing something we like, especilly whrem we know in our countrie only very few persons do this and many need.
I have read some others texts and your profile. You seem to be a nice person. I don't invite you to read my blog, because I'm portuguese and problably you don't konw my language, but you can take a look there. (Have more text than images.)
Kisses Have a nice weekend! :)
